Hotel Bundi Haveli – A Boutique Hotel with Stunning View

Sindhu Murthy

We recently visited the wonderful state of Rajasthan to explore some amazing locations off the usual tourist circuits. Our first stop during the trip was in a quaint and laidback town called Bundi where time seemed to stand still. The town mostly had retained its old world charm with its heritage structures and narrow lanes. Imagine a beautiful area with a huge lake and homes in white, yellow and blue hues scattered in a maze across a hillock town surrounded by densely wooded hills covered with a lot of greenery and an ancient fort and a palace perched on the slopes watching the town – well, that is how Bundi appear to us as we entered the town. Nestled amidst one of the bylanes of the old town of Bundi very close to the centrally located Lake was Hotel Bundi Haveli, which was our home for two days during our stay in Bundi.

The terrace of the hotel offers a panoramic view of the entire city with the Taragarh fort and Ghar Palace towards the back, the beautiful Nawal Sagar Lake towards the front and the old city on the remaining two sides.

About Hotel Bundi Haveli

Hotel Bundi Haveli is a heritage property which has been recently modified into a beautiful heritage boutique hotel to accommodate tourist. The best part about the hotel is its location which is at a walkable distance to some of the most popular tourist spots in Bundi like the Nawal Sagar Lake, Garh Palace, Taragarh fort and the market. All other attractions in Bundi are within a drive of about 5 kms from the hotel. The terrace of the hotel offers a panoramic view of the entire city with the Taragarh fort and Ghar Palace towards the back, the beautiful Nawal Sagar Lake towards the front and the old city on the remaining two sides.

We could easily lose track of time enjoying a cup of hot tea while relaxing in the beautiful terrace garden with a beautiful view. The hotel staff were extremely helpful in catering to all our needs. The staff at front desk helped us with all the details needed to plan our itinerary during our stay. The gift shop in the hotel has a beautiful collection of jewelry, textile and artifacts from across India.

Accommodation

Hotel Bundi haveli has 12 rooms in standard, deluxe and suite categories to suit the budget and needs of different types of travelers. All the rooms have tastefully decked up interiors with textiles, artifacts, tribal jewelry and period furniture. The elegant jharokas or the meshed windows present in each room open up to amazing view of the Nawal Sagar lake, the old town or the Bundi Palace.  All rooms are equipped with all the amenities of modern comfort like running cold and hot water, air condition, kettles and 24 hrs wifi.

Food

The in house restaurant at the hotel offered both Indian and continental food for lunch and dinner. We tried a couple of veg and non-veg  dishes and they tasted too good. Breakfast was complementary and consisted of veg sandwich, boiled eggs, omelet, bread, butter, jam and fruit platter. On enquiring with the hotel manager about Indian breakfast, we were told that most of the tourists who visit Bundi were foreigners and hence the breakfast ( which was complementary) did not consist of any Indian menu.
